InstaRoute Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how InstaRoute ("we", "our", or "the extension") handles user data when you use the InstaRoute Chrome Extension and web application.

Single Purpose Description

InstaRoute is an autonomous travel planning tool designed solely to detect public location names and captions from your bookmarked Instagram saved collections and convert them into organized, day-by-day travel itineraries, offline maps, and cultural field guides.

1. Data We Collect

When you explicitly activate the extension on your active Instagram Saved tab by clicking "Generate Travel Itinerary", we extract:

Public Post URLs & Captions: The textual description and location tags associated with your bookmarked travel posts.
Location Mentions: City, restaurant, cafe, and tourist landmark names contained in the post captions.

2. Data We Strictly DO NOT Collect

We adhere to strict data-minimization practices in full compliance with Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policies:

No Passwords or Credentials: We never access, capture, or store your Instagram login details or passwords.
No Cookies or Session Tokens: We never access or export your personal authentication cookies.
No Private Messages: We have zero access to your direct messages (DMs), stories, or private conversations.
No Physical Location Tracking: We do not track your device's GPS coordinates or physical location.
No General Web Browsing History: The extension is strictly sandboxed to run only on user command on the Instagram saved collection tab.

3. How We Process & Use Your Data

Extracted post text and location names are transmitted via encrypted HTTPS requests to our processing engine exclusively to:

Identify geographical coordinates using standard geocoding services.
Sequence destinations into logical daily routes to minimize transit time.
Generate offline-compatible KML files (for Organic Maps) and printable travel guides.

4. Local Storage & Data Retention

User preferences, theme choices, and recently generated itinerary previews are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local. All itinerary drafts and local preferences can be deleted immediately at any time by clearing your browser cache or uninstalling the extension.

5. Strict Zero-Sale Policy

We strictly certify that InstaRoute does never sell, lease, monetize, or trade your personal data or bookmarked content to third-party data brokers, advertisers, or analytics brokers under any circumstances.

6. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Policy

InstaRoute's use and transfer of data to any other app adheres to the Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
